For a bug, it helps to include your iPhone model, the iOS version and what you did just before it went wrong.

Common questions

How do the reminders work?

Every maintenance item can have a time interval, a distance interval, or both. Pitstamp counts from the last time the job was done and warns you when either deadline gets close, whichever one arrives first. For distance-based work it also estimates a date, using how much you have actually been driving.

Do I need an account?

No. There is nothing to sign up for. Add a vehicle and a mileage reading and you are set up.

Does it sync between my devices?

Optionally, yes. Turn on Sync with iCloud in Settings and relaunch the app when prompted. Records then mirror through your own private iCloud database, so your other Apple devices signed in to the same Apple Account stay up to date. The setting is per device.

Why does the app ask me to relaunch when I change the sync setting?

Switching sync mode changes where the records are stored. The app never swaps the store while it is open, because that is how data gets lost. Relaunching does it safely.

Does it work without a connection?

Yes. Everything works offline. Sync catches up when you are back online.

What does Premium include, and is it a subscription?

It is a one-time purchase, never a subscription, and it is shared through Family Sharing. It unlocks every vehicle, tire sets, unlimited documents and attachments, the Vehicle Passport PDF, the extended export, detailed statistics and the Fuelly import.

The free version is not a trial: one vehicle, unlimited records, the complete reminder engine, iCloud sync and CSV export are all included.

I bought Premium but it is not unlocked

Open Settings, tap the Premium row and then Restore purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the Apple Account you bought it with. If it still does not appear, write and include the date of purchase.

Can I move my history in from another app?

Pitstamp imports Fuelly service and fuel-up CSV exports, and shows you exactly what it is about to add before anything is saved. If you keep records somewhere else, write and tell me which app; the importer is built to grow.

Can I use miles?

Yes. Each vehicle has its own distance unit and its own currency, so a household with a car in miles and one in kilometres is fine.

My odometer was replaced, or I typed a reading wrong

Both are handled without breaking the history. Open the odometer history for the vehicle: you can correct a reading, or record a meter replacement, and the reminders recalculate from the corrected timeline.

How do I get my data out?

Passport, then Export. CSV is available to everyone; Premium adds a complete archive and the Vehicle Passport PDF. You can also delete a vehicle's whole history from inside the app.

Is there an iPad or Mac version?

Not in this release. Version 1.0 is built and tested for iPhone, and shipping an untested tablet layout would be worse than not shipping one. It is on the list.

I have an idea for the app

Send it. Small, specific requests from people who actually keep records are the best input this app gets.
